This standard specifies the classification, requirements, naming, sampling, test methods, inspection rules and signs, packaging, transportation and storage of iron oxide pigments. These pigments are identified by the following color index numbers: Red 101 and Red 102, Yellow 42 and Yellow 43, Brown 6 and Brown 7 and Black 11, also including fast dispersing pigments. Excludes micaceous iron oxide pigments, transparent iron oxide pigments, granular iron oxide grays and magnetic iron oxide pigments other than those with Color Index No. Black 11. This standard applies to general-purpose iron oxide pigments, mainly used in industrial fields such as coatings, construction, papermaking, rubber and plastics.
