Scope
This part of GB/T 5169 specifies a small-scale laboratory screening method for comparing the relative combustion characteristics of plastic and other non-metallic material samples. The ignition source of the test is a small flame with a nominal power of 50W, and the test samples are placed horizontally or vertically. . These test methods measure the damage length of the sample as well as the linear burning rate and afterflame/afterglow time of the sample. These test methods are applicable to solid materials and foamed plastics whose apparent density is not less than 250kg/m3 when measured according to the method of ISO 845-1988, not applicable to materials that shrink but do not burn when exposed to fire; For flexible materials, the method of ISO 9773-1998 should be used. The classification methods specified in this standard (see 8.4 and 9.4) can be used for quality assurance or for preselection of component materials for products. These methods can only be used for the preselection of materials when the sample thickness is equal to the minimum thickness practically used and the results obtained are positive.
