Scope

This standard specifies the classification and technical requirements of commonly used quenching media for heat treatment. This standard applies to metal materials and the three types of media used in their production and quenching: aqueous solution, oil, and hot bath. This standard does not include quenching media such as metal baths, fluidized beds and gases.
