This standard aims to ensure that control and monitoring computers () and their peripheral equipment (hereinafter collectively referred to as equipment) installed on ships to which laws and regulations and classification rules do not apply can fully demonstrate their functions. The purpose of this specification is to specify the importance of the equipment, classification of usage conditions, and environmental testing methods. Note () A computer for automatic control, remote control, and monitoring in ship operations, cargo handling, etc. to which laws and regulations and classification rules are not applicable. This does not include general-purpose computers used to rationalize and improve the efficiency of shipboard operations. Note: For equipment to which laws and regulations and classification rules apply, if it is necessary to give priority to their application, those laws and classification rules shall apply.
