Scope: This Part applies to basic electromechanical relays (non-timed with or without relays), and specifies the basic safety-related and functional requirements for basic electromechanical relays used in various fields of electrical or electronic engineering. Such application areas as: general industrial equipment; electrical installations; electrical machinery; household and similar electrical appliances; information technology and business equipment; building automation equipment; automation equipment; electrical installation equipment; medical equipment; control equipment; telecommunications equipment; aerospace vehicles tools; means of transportation; other equipment, etc. Compliance with the requirements of this standard is verified by the specified type tests. If additional requirements beyond the scope of this standard are specified due to the use of the relay, the relay shall be evaluated according to the corresponding IEC standard (such as IEC 60730-121999, IEC 60335-1:1991, IEC 60950-1:2001) according to the use.
