WARNING: Personnel using this standard should be familiar with formal laboratory procedures. This standard is not intended to address all safety issues that may arise from the use of this standard. It is the user's responsibility to establish a safety and health system and ensure compliance with national regulations. This standard specifies a method for the determination of the resistance of rubber or plastic coated fabrics to ozone cracking under static conditions. This standard is applicable to the determination of the relative ozone cracking resistance of rubber or plastic-coated fabrics when exposed to ozone-containing air without direct sunlight under static strain. Like all aging tests, the ozone resistance test should be considered a means of comparing products with the same components and uses, but it is not an absolute criterion for judgment. It is best to limit the significance of the test to a control method for achieving ozone cracking resistance of a fabric better than a given threshold compared to a certain degradation. Based on this point of view, the results obtained from the test cannot yet be used to predict the life span of the product.
