This standard specifies test methods for distinguishing colonizing microorganisms (e.g., yeasts and bacteria) from filter solid particles present in compressed air, and is a self-imposed series of harmonized test methods for air contaminants. As part of the standard, the means for sampling, culturing and determining the quantity of microbial particles are specified. In addition, this test method is suitable for determining the cleanliness grade according to JIS B 8392-1, and can be compared with JIS B 8392-4 when it is necessary to treat viable bacteria and colloid-forming units as the same as solid particles.
