This British Standard gives recommendations for the storage and
handling of cables for fixed installations, rated up to 1 900/3 300 V, that
are packaged on wooden cable drums suitable for storage outdoors.
NOTE The recommendations could also be applied to:
• cables of higher rated voltages that are packaged on wooden drums;
and
• cables of similar size, on similar wooden drums, and made to
standards and specifications not specifically quoted here.
This standard does not cover metal drums, cable spools or cable reels,
or trailing and reeling cables.
