Scope
This standard specifies the weight (mass) calibration method for internal combustion engines. Noun weight as used in this standard is directly equivalent to noun mass. This standard applies to: a) reciprocating internal combustion (RIC) engines (spark-ignition or compression-ignition engines) but excluding free-piston engines; b) rotary-piston engines; these engines may be naturally aspirated or A supercharged engine with a supercharger or turbocharger. This standard applies to engines for the following purposes: c) for land use, track traction and marine use; d) for vehicles; e) for driving (or as power) non-road mobile machinery; f) for motorcycles; g) for agricultural tractors and For driving agricultural machinery; h) For earth-moving machinery as defined in the ISO 6165 standard; i) For small ships such as yachts with an overall length not exceeding 24m. This standard also applies to engines for road construction machinery, industrial trucks, and other uses for which there is currently no suitable standard.
