This standard applies to technical fabrics or fabrics for industrial uses, made of natural, artificial or synthetic fibres, both raw and treated, which are subjected to wear against surfaces or edges (metal, wood, etc.). It does not apply to fabrics coated for example with rubber or resin and, in general, to fabrics for clothing and furnishings and for domestic use. 2 The purpose of this standard is to determine abrasion by determining the residual tensile strength. 3 The validity of the test is limited to direct comparison between samples tested in the same conditions and on the same device.
