This standard applies to hot forged rounds, squares, hexagons, octagons and flat steel, supplied in bars (see point 1.1.), having a diameter, side or key width of between 16 and 1 000 mm and a shorter length or equal to 6,000 mm and in any case with a length/diameter or side or width ratio or theoretical thickness as reported in the table in point 4. For products with a length greater than 6,000 mm, the tolerances and allowances are different and of a greater value of those of this standard must be the subject of particular agreements when ordering. 2 For plates, however, this standard is valid only for those products with a ratio: b : h ≤ 8, if made of quality or special unalloyed or alloyed steel; b : h≤ 5, if made of basic unalloyed steel. 3 Length tolerances apply only to products supplied in fixed lengths (see point 7.2.)
