- This unification indicates the procedure for obtaining an approximate measurement of the quantity of free phenols in phenolic molds. It consists in determining the quantity of iodine absorbed by an aqueous extract, obtained by working on a finely powdered molded piece. However, with the present method an absolute determination of the free phenols present cannot be achieved. The quantity of free phenols in a printed product is influenced above all by the degree of cooking. Its evaluation is particularly interesting when one wants to examine the possible possibility of contamination of food or other materials.
