- This unification lists the procedures relating to the qualitative determination of the nature of coatings made of a single metal obtained by chemical, electrochemical and thermal means. 2 - In this unification, metal coatings consisting of one of the following metals are considered: aluminium, silver, cadmium, chromium, molybdenum, nickel, gold, lead, platinum, copper, rhodium, tin, zinc. 3 - In the event that the coating to be examined is made up of an alloy of the sought metal, the tests of this unification generally do not have a selective nature. 4 - For a good execution and interpretation of the test it is essential that the surface of the deposit to be examined is clean and free from greasy substances.
