This standard establishes the characteristics, tolerances and test methods of thermostatic valves for hot water heating systems intended for heating elements with heat transfer fluid consisting of water at a temperature lower than the boiling point at atmospheric pressure. These valves regulate the flow of heat by automatically varying the flow rate of the heat transfer fluid in the heating body on which each of them is mounted, with the aim of maintaining the room temperature constant, within certain limits. 2 This standard does not apply to thermostatic valves intended for other particular applications.
