This standard defines the method for determining the ISO sensitivity of photographic films of all formats in rolls, magazines, flat films and plates, intended for obtaining continuous tone monochrome (black and white) negatives, excluding infrared photography . The method does not apply to negatives obtained with diffusion (transfer) systems, nor to films and plates for graphic arts, to x-ray films and to films for aerial photography.
