This unification describes a procedure for determining the resistance of technical-scientific, pharmaceutical and healthcare glassware to attack by a 6N hydrochloric acid solution at a temperature of 100 °C. The resistance is inversely proportional to the quantity of alkaline oxides extracted, referring to the surface unit of the glass, and must be calculated as such. With this unification it is possible to determine the acid resistance of glass as a finished product (sample preparation according to method A), or as a material (sample preparation according to method B).
