This unification indicates the procedure for determining the percentage of substances that can be extracted by acetone at a temperature close to its boiling point from a sample of finely ground phenolic mold. It is also used to control the relative degree of cooking of phenolic molds. The extraction process is carried out under specific conditions and for a specific time. The results have only comparative value because the extracted material normally contains other substances than those that can be detected in an underfired resin, for example lubricants, colorants and plasticizers.
