It concerns the methods of carrying out the service test in the laboratory (UNI 3666-65) by alternating immersion, with the aim of reproducing, in controlled conditions, what can happen in practice on bare or coated metallic materials exposed alternately to the action of a solution and the atmosphere. The test can be performed on metal test tubes with a rough or suitably prepared surface, protected or not; it can therefore serve to highlight the intrinsic corrosion resistance of the metallic material in the particular state of supply or the effectiveness of the protective layer.
