It concerns the methods of control and verification of the thermometers referred to in UNI 6430 to UNI 6433, UNI 6886, UNI 6887, UNI 6889 and UNI 6892. The general principles of construction of thermometers, to which this standard applies, are reported in the UNI 6429, UNI 6885, UNI 6888, and UNI 6891. The purpose of checking the thermometer is to establish the conformity of the instrument with all the requirements contained in the aforementioned standards. The purpose of thermometer testing is to determine instrument errors. The principles, procedures and equipment for checks are described: visual, dimensional, persistence of the dye, stability of the bulb and precision of the thermometers. Two types of tests are foreseen: selection tests and type tests.
