Scope
It concerns the standards relating to the quality of the steel of the rough or semi-finished or finished forged axles of special alloy steel, in the hardened and tempered state, intended for wheelsets of railway rolling stock and for which a particularly high fatigue limit is required, to their process manufacturing and the checks and tests to be carried out for their acceptance. For applications for which high toughness characteristics are also required, see UNI 6787-71. Tests and results (visual, microscopic, macrographic examination; tensile, longitudinal and transversal resilience, impact, rotary bending fatigue tests; chemical analysis). Appendix a: Ultrasound exams. Appendix b: metalloscope examination. Source: unifer-unsider 005.
