Scope
It concerns the methods of carrying out the standard laboratory test (UNI 3666-65) for alternating immersion, with the aim of providing reproducible data relating to the corrosion resistance of bare or coated metallic materials, by subjecting some test pieces to a long series of equal cycles of immersion-emergence, in a solution and in the atmosphere, in well-defined and controlled conditions of temperature and relative motion of test tubes-solution. The test can be performed on metal test tubes with appropriately prepared surfaces, protected or not; it can therefore serve to highlight the intrinsic corrosion resistance of the metallic material, the corrosion resistance of the metallic material in the particular state of finish or the effectiveness of the protective layer. Test solutions. Equipment. Test tubes. Method. Cleaning of the tubes after the test and control of the aggressive medium. Results evaluation criteria. Test report.
