This Part describes procedures for the preparation, prior to painting, of standard panels for use in general methods of test for paints, varnishes and related products.
1.2 The following types of standard panels are specified:
(a) Steel panels prepared by
— solvent cleaning,
— abrasion (burnishing),
— blast-cleaning (notes for guidance only).
(b) Tinplate panels prepared by
— solvent cleaning,
— abrasion (burnishing).
(c) Aluminium panels prepared by
— solvent cleaning,
— abrasion (burnishing),
— acid chromating.
(d) Glass panels prepared by
— solvent cleaning,
— detergent cleaning.
(e) Wood panels.
(f) Asbestos-cement panels.
