Scope
This Code of Practice provides guidelines on the proper application, operation, and the correct maintenance procedures of dry-type transformers having a voltage rating for equipment up to and including 22 kV. It aims at ensuring the safe and effective operation of the transformers with minimum risk of breakdown and consequent interruption of supply. This recommendation is based on the design, practice, selection, operation and maintenance of dry-type transformers in the tropical climate of Singapore. The following small and special dry-type transformers are not covered by this Code: single-phase transformers rated at less than 1 kVA and polyphase transformers rated at less than 5 kVA; instrument transformers; transformers for static convertors; welding transformers; voltage regulating transformers; specialty transformers. Where Singapore Standards do not exist for the transformers mentioned above or for other special transformers, this standard may be applicable as a whole or in parts.
