This standard concerns a method for determining the organic content of soils through rapid wet combustion as described in Walkley & Black (1934), followed by a colori-metric test using a light filter for wavelengths of about 620 μm.
The method is applicable for an organic content of less than 60 %. The colorimeter gives a slight reading even for completely inorganic matter. Empirically, therefore, organic content determined by the colorimetric method should be reduced by 0,2 %.
