This standard descnbes a method for the determination of the ash, (in the range 0,01 to
m 0,20 % ( m /m)) from distillate and residual fnel oi Is, crude os Is, lubncating oi Is, vvaxes, and
other petroleum products, in vvhich any ash-formmg matenals present are normally considered
to be undesirable impunties or contaminants The method is limited to petroleum products
vvhich are free from added ash-formmg additives, includmg certain phosphorus compounds
