The standard specifies a method for ？ determining the total chloride content in hardened concrete. The chlorides are dis olved in nitric acid and determined by titration. The method is a reference method for determining chlorides in concrete. When the test does not include reference testing, nitric acid can usually be replaced with dis illed water. The method does not provide information on the form in which the chlorides are found in the concrete, or whether they are easily or poorly soluble in water.
