This standard describes the essential design details and performance characteris ics of reference ballasts for fluorescent tubes. The specified requirements are those that have been considered necessary to ensure accurate and reproducible results when testing tubes or ballasts. The specific values of open circuit voltage and impedance necessary for each type of tube are indicated in Table I. This standard must be used in conjunction with the following standards: (1) NCRVEN Standard N°551-71 "Dimensional characteris ics and of fluorescent dis harge tubes. (2) N0RVEN Standard No. 543-71 "Ballasts for fluorescent tubes." (3) NORVEN Standard No. 544-71 "Measurement methods for ballasts-- for fluorescent tubes."
