1.1 This standard deals with the control chart method of analyzing a collection of data, with particular reference to quality data, resulting from inspections and tests of materials and manufactured products. 1.2 The control chart method of analyzing data gives a summary of the data that has been analyzed. This summary helps to examine whether there is evidence of a control failure, and when it is justified to use the summary as a basis for predicting the future performance of the process from which the data that has been analyzed has been obtained, for example, the -performance of a production process.
