Scope
This standard provides symbols and rules for indicating maximum permis ible dimensional deviations on drawings of construction products or construction parts in the field of residential construction, non-residential construction and civil engineering. NEN 3698 must be applied for the use and indication of units of length (such as width, thickness, height, dis ance), numerical values and maximum permitted dimensional deviations. Notes 1. A dimensional tolerance is the sum of the maximum permis ible dimensional deviation upwards and the maximum permis ible dimensional deviation downwards. These are the upper and lower tolerance parts respectively. The definitions given in NEN 2881 apply to these terms and the other terms in the field of dimensional tolerances in construction. 2. NEN 3698 shows, among other things, which units, such as mm and m, must be used and how dimensions followed by the associated maximum permitted dimensional deviations must be written on drawings.
