Other standards in this area focus mainly on measuring nois caused by one machine, while this standard focuses on the situation found in factories and workshops, where the total nois level may be caused by more than one source. This standard describes a method for measuring nois in the workplace, both in enclosed spaces and in the open air. The standard can be applied to operating positions that are fully or partially enclosed by a machine, in cabins, whether or not part of a machine, and to all types of nois sources, both mobile and site-specific.
