The standard applies to plastics that are hard enough for the test at room temperature (20 to 23 °C) and it applies to materials manufactured in a mold with a thickness between 3 and 4.2 mm and to materials in sheet form with a thickness between 3 and 13 mm. It is not applicable for layered materials and plastics reinforced with glass mats. Data obtained using this standard may only be used to predict the behavior of plastics at elevated temperatures if it concerns applications where the conditions of time, temperature, type of loading and magnitude of the load correspond to the conditions stated in this standard. The values found should not be interpreted as maximum operating temperatures, due to the above variables.
