The standard applies to the investigation of the physical properties of and transport phenomena in the unsaturated zone of the soil in the pressure head range from h = 0 to approximately h = - 800 cm. Depending on the hydrological conditions prior to the determination, a desorption point (in the case of dehydration) or an absorption point (in the case of wetting) of the retention characteris ic is determined.
