2.1 This standard applies to gas transport and dis ribution pipes intended for flammable gases or gas mixtures suitable for domestic fuel and/or industrial use. If the gas is toxic and/or corrosive, additional requirements may be imposed.1) Figure 1 provides a schematic overview of the natural gas transport and dis ribution system in the Netherlands, showing to which parts of this system the standard applies. 2.2 The requirements given in this standard are considered sufficient to ensure safety under normal operating conditions. Special provis ons may be required for abnormal or deviating operating conditions not covered by this standard. All work falling within the framework of these regulations must at least meet the safety requirements set out in the standard or resulting from it. 2.3 The standard does not apply to: a. design, manufacture and inspection of equipment within the meaning of the Steam Decree and of pressure vessels within the meaning of the (draft) Pressure Retainer Decree; b. pipes whose wall temperature is above 30 °C or below -20X under normal operating conditions; c. pipes as referred to in NEN 1078; d. pipes on enclosed or unfenced sites of refineries, chemical companies, gas production and gas extraction companies and the like, with the exception of pipes and installations belonging to the gas transport or dis ribution system; e. pipes for gases condensed into liquid
