The pycnometer method (method A) applies to liquid paints and varnis es. Note The paints and varnis es must not contain solid particles that could clog the overflow of the pycnometer. The standard also applies to paints and varnis es that contain entrapped air, which cannot or hardly be removed and can be regarded as belonging to the product. The spherical immersion body method (method B) applies to liquid paints and varnis es with a more or less Newtonian structure. This method is not suitable for pasty, structurally vis ous, coarsely dis erse products or products containing trapped air. The methods (A and B) are equivalent. The report must state which method was used.
