Scope
This standard is intended to be applied to predominantly statically loaded building structures, insofar as they are made of steel. Note In NEN 6702:1991 the term building construction is defined as: all load-bearing parts of buildings. What is stated in the text means that the basic requirements apply to the load-bearing parts of, among other things, buildings, crane tracks, bridges, silos, warehouse racks, horticultural greenhouses and hydraulic steel structures. Additional requirements may apply to a building construction for reasons of a special geographical location, legal regulations or other standards. Some examples are offshore structures. This standard can only be applied in conjunction with NEN 6770:1991. The testing rules given in this standard apply in addition to the testing rules given in NEN 6770:1991, insofar as this standard is referred to in NEN 6770:1991. The chapter and paragraph numbering has been kept as similar as possible in both standards. However, this standard only includes those paragraphs for which a supplement applies, so that the numbering is not always continuous. Note This standard covers topics that are not covered in NEN 6770:1991. A reference to this standard is then included in NEN 6770:1991. This is also the case if this standard includes an alternative assessment rule, which may be used instead of the assessment rule given in NEN 6770:1991.
