This standard describes the determination of the air permeability of paper and cardboard according to Gurley. The standard applies to most types of paper and cardboard. The method, like Bendtsen's method (see NEN 2015), is suitable for less dense types of paper and cardboard with an air permeability of 100 ml in approximately 5 to 1800 s. Denser species can be better measured using Bekk's method (see NEN 2014).
