Scope
1.1 This International Standard specifies a test method for determining the oil content of petroleum waxes having a freezing point of at least 30 °C, determined in accordance with is 2207, and an oil content less than or equal to 15%. NOTE — Difficulties may aris with some waxes with an oil content greater than 5%, due to the limited solubility of the oil in methyl ethyl ketone, which may cause the formation of two liquid phases. If this occurs, the method is not applicable to the product under test. 1.2 The oil content of a wax can have significant effects on several of its properties, such as strength, hardness, flexibility, friction resis ance, coefficient of friction, coefficient of expansion, melting point , and the ability to form oily stains. The importance of these effects may depend on the use of the wax.
