This standard gives guidelines for the assembly by welding of tubes and fittings produced from polyethylene resin whose welding compatibility has been recognized or is guaranteed by the manufacturer of the accessory. For other polyolefins (polypropylene, polybutylene, poly-is butylene, etc.) the techniques described remain valid in their principles, provided that the necessary equipment exis s, but it is necessary to adapt the parameters and to respect the instructions of the maker. Before proceeding with a welding technique, the base material and its melt index must be known and the dimensions of the tubes and fittings must be checked. Welding temperatures and pressures depend on the resin used. The following specifications are to be considered general instructions which may be supplemented by specific specifications from the accessory manufacturer.
