This standard establis es the conditions to be respected when determining the tearing force of fabrics using a pendulum hammer. The measurement method is applicable to treated or untreated fabrics, provided that the tear occurs only in the desired direction. Otherwis , the fabric will be considered tear-resis ant in the direction tested according to the method described. In general, the measurement method is not applicable to knitted fabrics, felts and non-woven fabrics. Exceptionally, it is applicable to non-woven fabrics in the production direction.
