This Malaysian Standard describes a method of determining the resistance to tearing of woven fabrics by the wing-rip technique. It is not suitable for very loosely constructed fabrics that would fail in the test by slippage rather than by rupture of threads.
Two alternative ways of recording and expressing the results are specified, and the choice between these is made according to the particular tearing characteristics of the fabric being investigated.
