Scope
The computer program and automatic data system are developed through various phases from the moment the concept of creating software begins to the time the software produces the desired output. At present, considerably different terminology is used to define these phases and diverse procedures of each phase. In terms of the software life cycle, three phases can be applicable; the initiation, development and operation phases. In this document, the Initiation Phase is mentioned while the Development Phase is mentioned in KS C 5836 Guidelines for Software Documentation for the Development Phase. This guideline proposes guides on the table of contents for three document types generally prepared during the initiation phase. Each document type can exist independently or be combined in accordance with a request for specific documentation. Figure 1 shows the relationship of document types for each process in the Initiation and Development Phase. The volume of produced documents is flexible, as discussed in 2. Scrutiny of Documentation. Discussions on major activities and a figure showing the relationship between the three document types in the initiation phase is discussed in 3. Activities in the Initiation Phase. In 4. Guidelines for Document Type, the guides for the table of contents related to the three document types in the initiation phase are demonstrated.
