This Korean Industrial Standard specifies the capacitors stated below which are used with a rated voltage not exceeding 1000 V a.c. in a single phase circuit of commercial frequency, among capacitors(1) which are principally built in electrical machines and apparatus.
a) Capacitors(2) used in single phase circuit being connected with winding of induction motor
b) Capacitors(3) used being connected with discharge lamp circuit for power factor improvement.
Notes (1) The capacitors dealt with in this Standard means the ones employing evaporated metallic deposit or metal foil as the electrodes, impregnated paper, plastic film or their complex or non-impregnated plastic film as the dielectrics.
(2) This standard is not applicable for a.c. electrolytic capacitor used only for starting of motor. Also it is not applicable for the capacitor used for power factor improvement being connected in parallel with the motor.
(3) The capacitor not intended for power factor improvement but assembled in the same capacitor case as the power factor improvement one is excluded.
