Scope: This standard specifies the requirements for single-mode optical cables and cable components mainly used in public communication networks. Other applications of similar types of optical cables can also be used by reference. This part applies to outdoor optical cables on land (including duct optical cables, direct buried optical cables, aerial optical cables, underwater optical cables crossing lakes and rivers). For overhead applications, this section does not include optical cables installed near overhead transmission lines. In this application, corresponding requirements and test methods will be added. At the same time, this part does not include optical fiber composite overhead ground wires and optical cables hanging on the phase wires or ground wires of overhead transmission lines. For underwater optical cables crossing lakes and rivers, this part does not specify the repair method of optical cables, that is, it does not have repair capabilities, nor does it include optical cables with underwater line amplifiers.
