Scope

1.1 This standard lays down a method of test for the determination of the specific gravity of soil fraction passing 4.75-mm IS Sieve and that of the fraction retained on 4.75-mm IS Sieve. 1.1.1 When the soil is composed of particles both larger and smaller than those passing through 4.75-mm IS Sieve, the specific gravity value of the soil shall be the weighted average of the two values.
