1.1 This standard applies to the following two types of standard cells used as electromotive force ( emf) references, namely:
a) Saturated standard cells, and
b) Unsaturated standard cells.
1.2 This standard does not apply to the following:
a) Cells used as international or national standards of emf,
b) Assemblies consisting of a temperature-controlled enclosure containing one or more standard cells, and
c) Sources of emf intended to supply a current.
