1.1 This standard relates to polyimide tape wrapped round conductors suitable for temperature index 220.
1.2 The tape shall be coated with a suitable adhesive (for example, FEP). After wrapping, the tape shall be heat sealed to form a continuous and adherent sheath. It should be coated with adhesive on one side only.
1.3 The requirements of the standard are applicable to conductor sizes from l.0 mm to 5.0 mm diameter.
1.4 Grades of Coverings — Three grades of coverings specified are as under:
a) Fine (F),
b) Medium (M), and
c) Thick (T).
In each category, single tape and double tape coverings are specified.
