Scope

1.1 This standard specifies requirements for non-automatic, jacketed, pressure steam sterilizers of horizontal cylindrical type, designed for working pressure of 220 kN/m2 (2·2 kgf/cm2 approx ) gauge but shall be set to operate at 210 ±0/0.15 kN/m2 (2·1±0/0.15 kgf/cm2 approx ) gauge pressure ( corresponding temponature of the saturated steam inside the chamber about 134°C) primarily intended for emergency sterilization of unwrapped surgical instruments within six minutes.
