1.1 This standard specifies the requirements for porcelain housed capacitors used as coupling devices for high frequency telecommunication circuits, in the frequency range of 40 kHz to 500 kHz on high voltage overhead transmission lines, the power frequency being 0 to 60 Hz.
Note — If the user requires a range below 40 kHz, the frequency range 30 kHz to 500 kHz may be chosen.
1.2 The standard also specifies the requirements for voltage dividing capacitors of capacitor voltage transformers.
1.3 When these capacitors are used as part of a capacitor voltage trans-former, the latter shall meet the performance requirements, specified in IS: 3156 (Part IV )-l978*.
