1.1 This standard specifies the requirements, and methods of sampling and test for polyalkylene terephthalates ( PET and PBT ) also known as thermoplastic saturated polyesters polymer mate-rials for the manufacture of plastic items used in contact with foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and drinking water.
1.2 This standard does not purport to establish the suitability of the packaging media with parti-cular foodstuffs, pharmaceutical or drinking water from other than toxicological considerations.
