1.1 This standard (Part 1) is a guide for Technical Committees engaged in developing specifications for evaluation and identification of insulation systems in particular equipment. It is not the purpose of this guide to establish codification standards for the operational life of electrical equip-ment but rather to supply a framework within which standards for insula-tion systems can ultimately be established by the appropriate Equipment Technical Committee.
Note — This guide relates to insulation system aspects only. Insulation is not the only determinant of equipment life.
